Patio Portraits

They are people almost distant and disengaged, yet somehow, they manage to captivate us in wondering who they are or what is in their minds.

A long time ago I realized less is always more when it comes to producing a compelling portrait. That by losing myself to be as vulnerable as those I photographed, I could allow the unseen to be seen. That within a still frame there is magic to carry a spirit forward.

Photographed on a set constructed at my residence, “Patio Portraits” are studies of people releasing themselves into their own private introspection. Pictures of human solitude that I hope reach out to touch something internally personal in the hearts of all who look at them.
