Sigmund Freud captivated crowds with his theory that dreams are manifestations of suppressed desires. A more popular consensus is that dreams do have a purpose, and this purpose is largely connected to our emotions. Dreams seem to help us process emotions by encoding, and constructing memories of them. Or perhaps, they are simply serving as a sort of data dump—a clearing of the day’s useless memories and a caching of the valuable ones. Whatever they are, we do not truly know, but the mystery of dreams has inspired me to document countless dreams. Here are a few curated from my ongoing documentary series, “Dreams.”
